In Karnataka, a Digi Dhan mela was organised in Dharwad. Banks, Petroleum companies, Municipal Corporation, private e-wallet companies and other online payment service providers had their presence in 40 Exhibition stalls to educate people about online gateways.
It was a mela of a different sort. Point of sale machines, various banking apps, e-wallet apps, smart hand held computers, mobile ATMs and Rupay cards on display are tools of transformation that we seek for a better economy. Dharwad is the education hub of North Karnataka and student fraternity who visited the mela in large numbers sought information on online money transfer.
Those without smartphones were finding out details about operating bank accounts. It helped people to understand the convenience and benefits of mobile banking.
