Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said the fare hike is necessary for survival of Delhi Metro Rail. Mr Puri asked if the fares are deferred then how the world class Delhi Metro will survive.
The Minister was speaking at World Economic Forum in New Delhi. His remarks came amid opposition from the Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal over the proposed fare hike of metro from 10th of this month. Mr. Puri said, there is need to build urban infrastructure as pressure of population and urbanisation is much faster.
