This literary initiative provides a platform to shape well-informed perspectives on topics ranging from national security and international relations to defense strategy, organizational behaviour, and the management of combat forces. Upholding a high level of professionalism in the Indian armed forces necessitates continuous education and training, making endeavors like the NIB competition of great importance.

The award commemorates the maritime strategic thinker, Sardar KM Panikkar, who championed the importance of oceans and maritime affairs.
