CBN Unleashes Operation Sting: High-Stakes drug seizures rocks Rajasthan & MP

Operation 1: Unveiling the Deceptive Truckload in Rajasthan

In a high-stakes operation, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) intercepted a Mahindra Trailer truck near Shri Dev Narayan Bhojnalay on the Udaipur-Bhilwara highway, Gangrar, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. The truck, purportedly loaded with 120 bags of cattle feed, was secretly harboring a jaw-dropping 5,057.300 kg of Poppy Straw in 267 hidden plastic bags. This blockbuster revelation resulted in the swift arrest of an individual, invoking the full force of the NDPS Act, 1985.

Operation 2: Midnight Raid in Chittorgarh

In a synchronized strike, CBN operatives, backed by the Deputy Narcotics Commissioner office Neemuch, raided a residence in the secluded village of Dhakdi PS Pipaliya Mandi, Mandsaur district, MP. Under the cover of darkness, the homeowner attempted to escape, but CBN agents successfully captured the individual. During a covert search, 57 concealed plastic bags were discovered, holding 1,131.900 kg of illicit Poppy Straw. Prompt legal actions followed, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator under the NDPS Act.

CBN’s Year of Triumph: A Record-Breaking Crusade

The year 2023 has proven to be a watershed moment for the CBN, as its relentless pursuit of drug smugglers yielded unprecedented results. With a record-breaking 116 seizure cases, 150 arrests, and the confiscation of 87 vehicles, the agency has made significant strides in curbing drug-related criminal activities.

Ingenious Modus Operandi Exposed

The agency unveiled various ingenious modus operandi, resulting in the seizure of approximately 70 tonnes of different drugs, including Poppy Straw, Opium, Heroin, Cannabis, M.D. Powder, and Codeine Phosphate syrups. Cash amounting to approximately Rs. 1 crore was also seized during these operations.

Large-Scale Destruction Operations

CBN’s unyielding efforts extended to large-scale destruction operations. Operation “PRAHAAR” saw the eradication of 10,326 hectares (25,526 acres) of illicit opium poppy crops in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, marking the largest destruction operation of its kind in India. In Himachal Pradesh, Operation “SHAKTI” targeted the annihilation of 1,124 hectares (2,777 acres) of illicit Cannabis (Ganja) crops, solidifying CBN’s position as a formidable force against drug-related crime.

Historic Drug Disposal

Parallel to its Anti-Narcotic operations, the agency prioritized the disposal of seized drugs, setting a historic precedent by disposing of more than 104 tonnes of contraband drugs seized in 86 cases. The disposal included various narcotics such as Poppy Straw, Opium, Heroin, Cannabis, M.D. Powder, Codeine Phosphate syrups, and numerous psychotropic tablets. The CBN’s unwavering dedication to combating drug-related crime has undoubtedly made a substantial impact in maintaining law and order on the narcotics front.
