IndianBureaucracy, New Delhi, Februry 21, 2024: In Breaking News, NTPC Ltd., India’s leading integrated power company, has recently acquired 1,200 acres of land near Pudimadaka village in Atchutapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh for its ambitious green energy and green hydrogen initiatives. This strategic move aligns with NTPC’s vision and the Government of India’s broader efforts for energy transition. The agreement, executed on 20th February 2024, signifies collaboration between NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) to establish Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub – a Integrated Green Hydrogen Hub. The Mega Project is expected to create a new age Green Energy ecosystem which will eventually encourage many ancillary industries.

The Land Lease Deed was formally exchanged between Shri Sivakumar V V, Chief General Manager, NGEL and Shri Pravin Kumar, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, APIIC, at the Secretariat, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati. The exchange took place in the presence of key dignitaries, including Shri K S Jawahar Reddy, Chief Secretary Andhra Pradesh, Shri R Sarangapani, Executive Director of NTPC, and other senior officials from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, APIIC, NTPC, and NGEL.

The initiation of the Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub marks a significant step towards creating a world-class ecosystem for cutting-edge technologies in the new energy paradigm. The hub is envisioned to house facilities for electrolyser and fuel cell manufacturing, related ancillary industries, start-up incubation, testing facilities, as well as the production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green ammonia and green methanol. A key aspect of the project is the construction of India’s largest green hydrogen production facility, with a capacity of 1200 TPD, primarily targeting various export markets.

NTPC, is India’s largest Power Utility company, primarily engaged in power generation with a total installed capacity of 74 GW (inclusive of Joint Ventures and subsidiaries), is rapidly expanding its renewable energy portfolio. The establishment of a fully owned subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), is a strategic move. NGEL will spearhead Renewable Energy Parks and Projects, delving into areas such as Green Hydrogen, Energy Storage Technologies, and Round the Clock RE Power.

With ambitious plans to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, the NTPC Group currently boasts 3.4 GW of installed RE capacity and has over 22 GW in the pipeline. The commitment to supporting Andhra Pradesh’s and India’s decarbonisation goals reflects NTPC’s dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
