Birth Centenary Year (Sept 2016- Sept 2017) of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay- the great Indian Philosopher, Economist, Sociologist, Historian and Journalist was started in SJVN Ltd by organizing an inaugural program at its Corporate Office at Shimla.
The program was inaugurated by Shri R N Misra, CMD SJVN in august presence of Shri A S Bindra Director (Finance), Shri N L Sharma Director (Personnel), Sh R K Bansal Director (Electrical), Sh Kanwar Singh Director (Civil) and other senior officials of SJVN. Dr Kamal Manohar Sharma, Professor & Chairman Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Chair, H.P. University and Dr. Suresh Kr. Soni, Associate Professor PG College Bilaspur were invited to speak and share their wisdom on life and teachings on Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.
Welcoming the dignitaries on the occasion, Sh. N.L. Sharma, Director (Pers.), SJVN in his address said that the teachings and principles propagated by Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay are still relevant even in the present day context and that we should all try to emulate them in our personal & public life.
As part of the Centenary Year Celebrations, SJVN organized various competitions for school children during the year and the winning children from over 25 schools were invited and given prizes in the function today. The program was followed by an Essay writing competition in which SJVN employees participated in full fervour and displayed their ingenious side. All offices and project sites of SJVN are also holding various events and programs during this centenary year celebrations.
On this occasion, Sh R N Misra told that such initiatives taken by Ministry of Power, GoI goes a long way in remembering and paying tribute to the great personalities and SJVN has always been committed in undertaking the diverse initiative of Ministry. He further added that Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay propagated the philosophy of Integral Humanism (Ekatm Manavvad) which advocates the simultaneous integration of Body, Mind and Soul of each human being.
During the remainder of the centenary year, more such events will also be organized for school and college students and SJVN employees with a view to make them aware of the rich lineage of our country and also to encourage their creative flair.
