Shri Bibhuti Bhusan Patel IOFS (2000) presently Director- Ministry of Defence has been given premature repatriation to his parent cadre .
Shri Bibhuti Bhusan Patel is a senior officer of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS), belonging to the 2000 batch. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from Jyoti Vihar Burla Government College, affiliated with Sambalpur University, Odisha. Over the course of his career, Shri Patel has held several important positions in the Government of India, particularly within the Ministry of Defence and its allied departments.
He began his service in technical and managerial roles, including as Technical Assistant and Assistant Manager (Works) in the Department of Defence Production & Supply, Pune. His performance and experience led to higher responsibilities at the central level, where he served as Deputy Secretary and later Director in the Department of Land Resources under the Ministry of Rural Development.
In June 2020, Shri Patel was appointed as Director in the Ministry of Defence under the Central Staffing Scheme, for a tenure of five years or until further orders. Prior to this posting, he also served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Defence Production. His career reflects a strong background in defence manufacturing, land resource management, and central policy administration.
