Shri Ashish Nath IDSE (1999) has been appointed as CVO – National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Delhi under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (level 14) for an
initial period of 3 years by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is an autonomous agency under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India. Established in 1988 through the NHAI Act, it is responsible for the development, maintenance, and management of the National Highways network across the country. Headquartered in New Delhi, NHAI plays a crucial role in building and expanding India’s road infrastructure, which serves as the backbone of the nation’s economic and logistic framework.
NHAI is the nodal agency for implementing the ambitious National Highways Development Project (NHDP) and Bharatmala Pariyojana, focusing on improving connectivity, reducing travel time, and enhancing safety and efficiency on highways. It has adopted modern engineering practices, digital monitoring systems, and transparent project management to ensure timely execution of projects.
The Authority also emphasizes sustainable infrastructure through green initiatives such as tree plantation, use of recycled materials, and electronic toll collection systems (FASTag). With its forward-looking vision and commitment to excellence, NHAI continues to strengthen India’s transportation ecosystem, facilitating trade, tourism, and mobility across regions.
