Shri Aneesh Hegde IRTS (2014) has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty to the Minister of State for Jal Shakti & Railways(Shri V Somanna) in the Ministry of Railways (level of Deputy Secretary) for a period of four years by The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Shri Aneesh Hegde, IRTS, is a dynamic officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), 2013 Civil Services Examination batch, known for his professional competence, academic excellence, and strong commitment to public engagement. Currently, he is posted at Hubballi as Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), South Western Railway (SWR), where he plays a key role in strengthening passenger communication, media coordination, and public outreach for the zone.

In his present assignment, Shri Hegde is responsible for managing the public interface of South Western Railway, ensuring transparent dissemination of information, timely handling of passenger concerns, and effective coordination with print, electronic, and digital media. His role is particularly significant in an era where public communication and stakeholder trust have become integral to large public institutions like Indian Railways.

Earlier in his career, Shri Aneesh Hegde gained rich operational exposure by working in Operations in the Hubballi Division, a core functional area of the Railways. This assignment provided him with hands-on experience in train operations, traffic management, and coordination across departments—building a strong foundation in railway working. He also served as Special Officer to the Minister of State for Railways, where he was closely associated with policy-level work, parliamentary matters, and coordination between the Ministry and the field formations, offering him valuable insight into governance at the national level.

Adding an important dimension to his administrative profile, Shri Hegde also headed the Zonal Training Institute (ZTI), Dharwad. As the head of the premier training institution of the zone, he was responsible for capacity building, induction and in-service training of railway officers and staff. His tenure reflected a focus on professional development, modern training methodologies, and nurturing future-ready human resources within the Railways.

Academically, Shri Aneesh Hegde has been a meritorious student throughout his career. He is an engineering graduate from BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru, one of the country’s well-known technical institutions. He completed his PUC (Intermediate) education from St. Joseph’s College, Bengaluru, and proudly identifies himself as a Josephite. His academic journey reflects a balance of technical knowledge and holistic development.

Beyond formal education, he has consistently invested in professional and personal growth. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), reflecting his expertise and interest in transport economics, logistics, and mobility systems. He is also a Fellow of the Melton Foundation, an international and intercultural organisation, association with which dates back to his college days and has contributed to his global outlook and intercultural sensitivity.

Shri Hegde’s interests extend well beyond official work. He enjoys reading and writing poems and articles, pursuits that reflect a reflective and creative temperament. He is currently learning Golf and actively plays Table Tennis, maintaining a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal well-being.

Deeply committed to mentoring and social contribution, Shri Aneesh Hegde has guided civil services aspirants and students over the years. He also serves as an Honorary Trustee of SWAIM (Swarnavalli Institute of Administration and Management), Sirsi, an institution engaged in mentoring aspirants for Civil Services and other competitive examinations. This role underscores his belief in giving back to society and nurturing future administrators.

A native of Sirsi, Karnataka, Shri Aneesh Hegde combines strong roots with a progressive outlook. His career reflects a blend of operational expertise, training leadership, public communication skills, and academic depth—qualities that continue to define his contribution to Indian Railways and public service.
