Shri Amitava Mukherjee IRAS (1995) presently Director (Finance) and Chairman cum Managing Director (Additional Charge) NMDC Limited has been selected for the post Chairman & Managing Director, NMDC Limited.
Shri Amitava Mukherjee is an exceptional visionary, driving the digital transformation of India’s mining leader, NMDC, with remarkable foresight and innovation. His leadership in implementing ERP positioned NMDC as the first Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) in India to adopt the SAP S4/HANA platform, setting a benchmark in the industry. As Director (Finance), he led NMDC to record-breaking achievements in FY22, with historic highs in turnover, profit before tax, and profit after tax, reflecting his unmatched financial acumen and strategic insight. Under his stewardship, the demerger of NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) from NMDC was accomplished efficiently, and in February 2023, NSL was successfully listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange with an impressive market capitalization of INR 10,242 crore. Shri Mukherjee’s expertise in project management, digital strategy, and policy formulation is not only advancing NMDC’s India operations but also guiding the company’s strategic efforts in Australia.
A distinguished member of the 1995 batch of Indian Railway Accounts Services (IRAS) and an accomplished Cost Accountant, Shri Mukherjee holds a Master’s in Commerce from Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur. His journey to NMDC as Director (Finance) in 2018 followed a highly successful tenure as General Manager (Finance) at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), where he demonstrated exceptional leadership. During his time with IRAS from 1997 to 2016, he held critical positions in Eastern Railways and was honored with the National Award for Outstanding Services in 2006. His early career began with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) from 1994 to 1997, further underscoring his extensive expertise.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Shri Mukherjee received the prestigious ‘FE CFO of the Year Award’ by Financial Express in 2022 in the Large Industry – Manufacturing category, a testament to his excellence and making NMDC the only PSU to receive this honor.
