Shri Akhilesh Misra is a highly accomplished and esteemed officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) from the 1995 batch, known for his outstanding leadership, technical brilliance, and commitment to innovation. With a distinguished career spanning decades, he has been instrumental in enhancing railway operations, modernizing mechanical engineering practices, and integrating advanced technologies into the Indian Railways system.
His expertise in digital transformation was evident during his tenure as Director of Mechanical Engineering (Computer & Information Systems) at the Ministry of Railways, where he played a key role in implementing advanced information systems to streamline operations. Recognized for his exceptional administrative capabilities, he was appointed as Executive Director (Personnel) at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Headquarters in February 2024, where he successfully handled high-level personnel management.
In March 2025, Shri Misra returned to Indian Railways as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Dhanbad Division in East Central Railway, a position that underscores his remarkable leadership and ability to drive operational excellence. His deep technical knowledge, strategic foresight, and people-centric approach continue to inspire colleagues and subordinates alike.
