Shri Akhil Agarwal took over charge as the first Director General (Signal & Telecommunications), Shri Akhil Agarwal belongs to Indian Railways Service of Signal Engineers of 1979 batch. Prior to this appointment he was General Manager in Central Railway, After Graduating in Electronics & Communication Engineering from IIT / Roorkee he did his Post Graduation from IIT Kanpur. He joined Indian Railways as an Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) officer in 1981 and has held various important posts i.e. Executive Director (Telecom) / Railway Board, Divisional Railway Manager / Bangalore, Chief Signal &Telecom Engineer / South Eastern Railway and Northern Railway, and Chief Project Manager / Indian Railway Project Management Unit
