Ajit Kumar IAS given additional charge as CEO- MyGov
Shri Ajit Kumar IAS (Kerala 2006) presently Joint Secretary- MeitY has been given the additional charge as Chief Executive Officer- MyGov for a period of 06 months w.e.f. 24.11.2025 by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Shri Ajit Kumar, a distinguished officer of the Indian Administrative Service, has built a career defined by administrative depth, policy exposure, and a steady commitment to public service. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, securing First Division, which provided him with a strong grounding in governance, political systems, and public administration.
His administrative journey began with foundational field assignments in Kerala, where he served as Assistant Collector in Ernakulam and later as Sub Collector in Idukki. These early roles offered him hands-on experience in land revenue management and sub-divisional administration, shaping his understanding of grassroots governance. He subsequently contributed to urban development as Project Director of the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project, and briefly served in the tourism sector, reflecting his versatility across domains.
Shri Kumar’s leadership capabilities were further demonstrated during his tenure as District Magistrate and Collector, where he managed district administration and development functions with a balanced and responsive approach. His transition to the Government of India marked a significant expansion in his policy experience. He served in key positions including Officer on Special Duty to the Minister in the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Deputy Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat, and notably in the Prime Minister’s Office, where he was associated with high-level administrative coordination.
He also served as Deputy Secretary and later Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs, contributing to critical aspects of internal administration. Returning to the state cadre, he held senior positions in Kerala, including Secretary in the Public Works Department and Resident Commissioner at Kerala House, New Delhi, where he played an important role in inter-governmental coordination.
Currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ajit Kumar is engaged in advancing India’s digital and technology governance framework. His career reflects a thoughtful blend of field experience and policy expertise, embodying the evolving strengths of Indian Bureaucracy, where adaptability and institutional insight drive effective governance.
