ACI presented Airport Service Quality Awards to 6 AAI Airports

Airports Council International (ACI) presented Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards 2017 to winning airports in a glittering ceremony held at Customer Excellence Global Summit at Halifax, Canada on 12th September, 2018. Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) six airports have bagged 07 awards in various categories. The winning AAI airports include Lucknow, Indore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune airports. It is for the first time that so many of AAI airports are amongst the winners of coveted award.

AAI Team to Halifax is led by Mr. I.N Murthy, Member (Operations) who accepted award for Pune airport. The award for the other wining airports was received by respective airport directors.Based on the results of the survey carried out by the Airports Council International (ACI), (a global non-profit organization of Airport Operators) on Airport Service Quality (ASQ), Lucknow Airport has been rated as the world’s top airport in the category – “Best Airport by Size” among the airports handling 2 to 5 million passengers per year. Lucknow Airport has also bagged the award for “Best airport by size and Region” among the airports handling 2-5 million passengers per year in the whole Asia Pacific region.

Indore Airport has bagged the award for ‘Best Airport by Region’ among the airports handling under 2 million passengers per year in Asia-Pacific region.

Ahmedabad Airport has been rated as the ‘Most Improved Airport’ in Asia-Pacific region. Indore and Ahmedabad airports are the two first time winners from India for 2017. While Kolkata and Pune Airports have been ranked third in the world in the category – ‘Best Airport by Size’ among the airports handling 5-15 million passengers per year, Chennai Airport has been adjudged the third best in the world in the category – ‘Best Airport by Size’ among airports handling 15-25 million passengers per year.

Airport Service Quality (ASQ) is the world-renowned and globally established benchmarking programme that measures passengers’ satisfaction while travelling through an airport. ACI, a global non-profit organization and independent agency of Airport Operators, carries out international benchmarking of airport through its participative program known as Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey which covers 34 key service areas covering eight major categories such as access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage, retail and more. ACI-ASQ survey is carried out at around 315 airports across Africa, North America, Latin America and Caribbean, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific. The ASQ survey results are also monitored by Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India, NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
