Abhishek Jorwal IPS transferred as IGP- Karnal Range
Shri Abhishek Jorwal IPS (Haryana 2004) presently IGP, CID(H), Panchkula has been transferred and posted as IGP/Karnal Range, Karnal.
IGP/Karnal Range, Karnal | A Crucial Policing Command in Haryana
The office of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Karnal Range holds a strategically important position in the policing and law enforcement structure of Haryana Police. Headquartered in Karnal, the range is responsible for supervising policing operations, maintaining law and order, coordinating crime control measures, and strengthening administrative efficiency across the districts falling under its jurisdiction.
Karnal Range is considered one of the key policing zones in Haryana due to its geographical importance, growing urbanization, industrial activity, and connectivity through major national highways. The range plays a critical role in ensuring public safety, crime prevention, intelligence coordination, and effective implementation of state policing policies.
The IGP/Karnal Range oversees the functioning of district police administrations within the range and works closely with Superintendents of Police (SPs), district police units, intelligence agencies, and specialized branches of Haryana Police. The office is responsible for monitoring law and order situations, reviewing crime trends, supervising investigations, and ensuring operational preparedness across the region.
One of the major responsibilities of the IGP/Karnal Range is maintaining coordination during sensitive law and order situations, large public gatherings, protests, elections, and emergency response operations. The office also plays an important role in inter-district coordination and implementation of crime prevention strategies.
With rapid urban growth and increasing economic activities in the region, policing challenges in Karnal Range have evolved significantly in recent years. Issues related to cybercrime, organized criminal networks, traffic management, narcotics control, and public safety require strong administrative leadership and coordinated policing efforts. The IGP/Karnal Range serves as the central supervisory authority to address these emerging challenges.
The office is also involved in strengthening community policing initiatives, improving response mechanisms, and enhancing coordination between district police units and specialized agencies. Regular review meetings, operational inspections, and strategic planning exercises are conducted under the supervision of the IGP to ensure effective policing standards across the range.
In the latest Haryana IPS reshuffle, senior IPS officer Shri Abhishek Jorwal has been appointed as IGP/Karnal Range, Karnal. An IPS officer promoted from the State Police Service (SPS) cadre of the 2004 batch, he was earlier serving as IGP, CID Haryana, Panchkula. His experience in intelligence and investigation is expected to strengthen policing operations and administrative coordination within the Karnal Range.
The appointment reflects the Haryana Government’s emphasis on deploying experienced officers in strategically significant policing assignments. The Karnal Range continues to remain an important administrative and operational zone for Haryana Police, contributing significantly to the state’s overall law and order framework.
As Haryana Police continues to modernize and strengthen institutional policing systems, the role of IGP/Karnal Range remains central to maintaining security, improving policing standards, and ensuring effective governance across the region.
