45 IAS Reshuffle Telangana Indian Bureaucracy

Indian Bureaucracy News, Hyderabad, February 25, 2026 | The Telangana government on Wednesday transferred 45 officers including 43 IAS officers in the state. In as many as 12 districts of the state new Collectors & District Magistrates have been appointed, including important commercial districts of Mahabubnagar, Karimnagar, Medak, Vikarabad, Hanamkonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhongir, Mahabubabad, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Rajanna Sircilla.

Contrary to the buzz and speculation that often surrounds bureaucratic reshuffles, the latest transfers in the State’s administrative machinery appear less driven by grand political strategy and more by routine yet consequential adjustments in who runs what.

A mix of senior and mid-career IAS officers has been moved into key positions, with the government clearly seeking to place trusted hands in departments that directly affect delivery on the ground.

Sanjay Kumar of 1995 batch has been given charge of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department — a portfolio that sits at the heart of rural governance and welfare implementation. Rahul Bojja (2000 batch) has been moved to the General Administration Department as Political Secretary, a role that works closely with the political executive and often acts as a bridge between policy and administration.

A noteworthy transfer in the reshuffle is that of Adwait Kumar Singh (2013 batch), who has been appointed Special Secretary to coordinate Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and posted to Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi. His move comes after a period of heightened public engagement in his previous district, where sections of tribal representatives and civil society groups had voiced concerns over administrative priorities. His new assignment shifts him from field administration to a role centred on inter-governmental coordination.

The position involves monitoring and coordinating projects jointly funded by the Centre and the State, typically in a 60:40 ratio. These include major infrastructure and welfare initiatives such as Phase II of the Hyderabad Metro Rail, the Musi Riverfront Development, the Sewerage Master Plan for Hyderabad, the e-Courts Mission Mode Project, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, and the National Health Mission. The post was earlier held by a senior officer, underscoring its importance in ensuring effective coordination and timely implementation of key schemes.

The reshuffle has also opened doors for younger officers. All seven IAS officers from the 2019 batch have been appointed as District Collectors, making them the biggest beneficiaries of this round of transfers. The 2017 batch saw the most movement, with six officers shifted between districts or to directorate-level posts.

Senior officers from the 1991 to 2006 batches have largely been retained within the Secretariat in policy-making and supervisory roles. At the same time, six State Civil Service officers have been promoted as Additional Collectors, indicating an effort to give State service officers greater responsibility in district administration.
