He will continue as Director- UP Suchna (PR & Information Department).

The Director, Uttar Pradesh Suchna (Information) Department occupies a pivotal position in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, leading the state’s official communication and public information machinery. As the administrative head of the Information Department, the Director is responsible for ensuring that government policies, welfare initiatives, developmental programmes, and public service campaigns are effectively communicated to citizens through various media platforms. The office serves as the vital interface between the government, the media, and the public, promoting transparency, awareness, and informed public participation.

The Directorate functions under the Department of Information and Public Relations and is entrusted with formulating and implementing comprehensive communication strategies that reflect the priorities and achievements of the State Government. The Director provides strategic leadership in planning publicity campaigns, coordinating media outreach, and disseminating accurate and timely information through print, electronic, digital, and social media platforms. The position demands a balanced approach that combines administrative acumen with a deep understanding of public communication and media relations.

One of the primary responsibilities of the Director is to oversee the dissemination of authentic government information. Every major policy announcement, infrastructure project, welfare scheme, administrative initiative, or public awareness campaign is coordinated through the Information Department. By ensuring that official communication reaches citizens promptly and accurately, the Directorate strengthens public trust and facilitates greater awareness of government initiatives across urban and rural areas alike.

Media relations constitute another significant aspect of the Director’s responsibilities. The office maintains regular engagement with newspapers, television channels, digital media organizations, and accredited journalists, ensuring a continuous flow of verified information. Press conferences, media briefings, official press releases, and interactions with media representatives are coordinated under the Director’s supervision. This proactive engagement contributes to transparent governance and encourages constructive dialogue between the administration and the media.

In recent years, digital transformation has considerably expanded the scope of the Information Department. The Director plays a key role in leveraging digital platforms, official websites, social media channels, multimedia content, and real-time communication tools to reach diverse audiences. The integration of technology has enhanced the speed, accessibility, and effectiveness of public communication, enabling the government to engage citizens more efficiently and respond promptly during emergencies or significant public events.

The Directorate also coordinates large-scale publicity campaigns for flagship government programmes relating to education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, women’s empowerment, infrastructure, tourism, industrial investment, and social welfare. The Director ensures that communication strategies are tailored to different regions and demographic groups, thereby maximizing public outreach and awareness. Such campaigns often involve collaboration with various government departments, district administrations, and media partners to achieve broad-based dissemination.

Beyond publicity functions, the Director supervises the publication of government literature, official documentaries, feature articles, photographs, audio-visual content, and archival material that record important milestones in the state’s governance and development. The office also promotes the preservation of government records relating to public communication while supporting initiatives that highlight Uttar Pradesh’s cultural heritage, developmental achievements, and investment potential.

Administrative leadership forms an equally important component of the position. The Director oversees the functioning of district information offices, manages departmental personnel, monitors budget utilization, and ensures effective implementation of communication policies across the state. Capacity building, modernization of communication infrastructure, and adoption of innovative outreach practices remain integral to the Directorate’s evolving role.

During emergencies, natural disasters, public health situations, or other critical events, the Information Department assumes an especially important responsibility. The Director coordinates the dissemination of verified information, public advisories, and awareness campaigns to prevent misinformation and ensure that citizens receive timely guidance. Effective crisis communication helps strengthen public confidence and supports efficient governance during challenging circumstances.

As Uttar Pradesh continues its journey of rapid economic growth and administrative modernization, the office of the Director, Uttar Pradesh Suchna (Information) Department remains central to strengthening public communication and promoting transparent governance. Through strategic media engagement, digital innovation, coordinated outreach, and effective dissemination of official information, the Directorate plays a vital role in connecting government initiatives with citizens, thereby reinforcing accountability, public awareness, and participatory governance across the state.
