The Hon’ble President of India, Sh. Ram Nath Kovind presented the ‘Vayoshreshtha Samman’ 2017 to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), in recognition of the outstanding service for promoting the well-being and welfare of senior citizens. The prestigious national award for ‘Best Public Sector Undertaking in Promoting The Well Being And Welfare Of Senior Citizens’, was received by Shri Atul Sobti, CMD, BHEL, along with Sh. D. Bandyopadhyay, Director (HR), BHEL.
Lauding BHEL’s initiatives in caring for its employees even after superannuation, the Hon’ble President said that more organisations should take such initiatives on the lines of BHEL, and care for employees who devote their entire working life to the organisation. Significantly, BHEL is the only corporate to be awarded in a total of 22 awardees under 11categories.
Instituted in 2005 by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India; the Vayoshreshtha Sammans are conferred on eminent Senior Citizens and Institutions in recognition of their service towards the elderly, especially indigent senior citizens.
