In Uttar Pradesh, the government has decided to organise special camps in Ghazipur and Azamgarh to execute the land sale deeds on priority basis for the Lucknow-Ballia Poorvanchal Expressway project. Three-day camp is being organised from today to Saturday in Ghazipur while in Azamgarh it will be held 4th to 6th of June.

Officers from executing agency of the project UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority will also be present during the camps to execute the deeds being done on mutual consent of farmers.

The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday decided to cancel the all eight tenders awarded to different firms during the previous Samajwadi Party government to develop the 354-km long Poorvanchal Expressway project as nearly 41 per cent land was acquired for the project.

The government also decided to float fresh tenders when required land will be available and implement the project under Engineering, Procurement and Construct system to reduce the cost of the project.

The government has also decided to develop a link road to connect Ayodhya and Varanasi under the project. The Poorvanchal Expressway project was launched to connect Lucknow with Ballia via Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur.

The cost of the project was estimated to be 19,000 crore rupees. The project aims to reduce travel time between Lucknow and Ballia by around five hours.
