Shri Trailukya Borgohain has been appointed as Director (Operations) of Oil India Limited (OIL) , a momentous milestone for India’s oldest oil and gas Exploration and Production (E&P) company and a Maharatna CPSE under the Government of India.

Hailing from Bhadoi Panchali in Dibrugarh District, Assam, Shri Borgohain began his illustrious journey with OIL in 1995 as an Executive Trainee in the Geological Department at the Field Headquarters in Duliajan. Since then, his contributions have been exemplary. He has played a pivotal role in key oil and gas discoveries in Assam, Rajasthan, and Gabon, marking significant milestones for the company. Shri Borgohain’s leadership and technical expertise were particularly instrumental during his tenure as General Manager and Head of OIL’s Gabon Exploration Project from 2017 to 2021.
A proven leader and a visionary, Shri Borgohain’s portfolio of achievements speaks volumes. He has presented numerous technical papers on prominent national and international platforms and authored over 36 exploration evaluation reports, solidifying his stature as a thought leader in the industry. Most recently, as Chief General Manager (Geology & Reservoir) at OIL, he drove crucial initiatives to fast-track the development of oil and gas fields in Upper Assam, showcasing his ability to transform vision into impactful results.
Shri Borgohain’s dedication extends beyond his operational excellence. A key figure in the professional community, he currently serves as Vice President of the Association of Petroleum Geologists (APG India) for the 2023-2025 tenure and is actively engaged with the Central Executive Body organizing Geo India 2024. Further cementing his credibility, Shri Borgohain is associated with international organizations such as the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
