Ms. Suman Sharma IRS (IT 1990) has taken the oath of Office and Secrecy as a Member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The oath was administered by the Chairman of UPSC, Dr. Manoj Soni.

Throughout her distinguished career of over 30 years, Ms. Suman Sharma has held several significant positions and has been extensively involved in the fields of International Taxation, Transfer Pricing, Export Promotion Schemes, and Power Trading Agreements. Notably, she received the “Award for the Best Search” while working in the Investigation Wing of the Income Tax Department, recognizing her exceptional contributions.

During her tenure as Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, CLA, New Delhi, Ms. Sharma dealt with export promotion schemes for exporters located in the northern zone. Her expertise and experience in various domains make her a valuable addition to the UPSC. Ms. Suman Sharma’s appointment as a Member of the UPSC highlights her extensive knowledge and accomplishments in the field of taxation and trade.

In addition to her extensive professional experience, Ms. Suman Sharma has furthered her knowledge and skills through various training programs and courses. She attended the Mid-Career Course on Budget Forecasting at Duke University in North Carolina, USA. She has also completed management courses at prestigious institutions such as MDI (Management Development Institute) in Gurugram, IIM (Indian Institute of Management) in Bangalore, and IBFD (International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation) in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

In her most recent role, Ms. Suman Sharma served as the Managing Director of the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Under her leadership, SECI experienced notable growth in its revenue and profits. Additionally, during her tenure, the company achieved the status of ‘Mini Ratna,’ a recognition for its performance and achievements.

Ms. Sharma’s expertise and leadership qualities have led to her nomination as a Member or Chairperson of various Boards and Committees focused on policy reforms. Her contributions in these roles demonstrate her commitment to driving positive changes and shaping important decisions in her field.
