SJVN to observe Swachhta Pakhwara fortnight from 1st July

As per directions received from Ministry of Power, Government of India SJVN is observing “SWACHHTA PAKHWARA” from 1st to 15th July 2017 at its all offices and projects. In a series of activities that are planned for this fortnight, today a pledge of SWACHHTA was administered to all the employees across all the offices and projects of SJVN. At Expediting Office New Delhi the pledge was administered by Chairman & Managing Director Sh. R.N. Misra while at corporate office Shimla the pledge was administered by Sh. A.K. Mukherjee, Chief General Manager (HR).

On this occasion Sh. Misra told that the drive initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister will now not be limited to any specific day or fortnight, but will be imbibed in the daily routines of all the employees of SJVN. He told that about 1700 employees of SJVN have  pledged to devote 100 hours every year for cleanliness, based on these figures he assured that Team SJVN will be putting in more than One Lakh Seventy Thousand man hours every year for this noble cause.

He further told that under this drive SJVN is committed to develop two villages of project affected area as Model Villages by 2018-19. For the purpose of making villages open defecation free SJVN is planning to connect three villages of project affected area with sewerage treatment plan and construction activities to this effect will be starting during this fortnight.

He further informed that in addition to cleanliness drives, SJVN in association with SULABH International is constructing 6 toilets along NH 22, while a toilet at Government School, Shanan will also be constructed. The initial construction activities of three of these toilets will take effect during this fortnight.

In this regard it is pertinent to mention that under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan SJVN constructed 2421 toilets at a cost of around Rupees 23 crores in the schools situated in project areas. SJVN is committed for the maintenance of these toilets and for this specific provisions are being made.
