The prestigious “P.L. Roy Award” instituted by HelpAge India has been conferred on SJVN for its outstanding contribution in providing free & quality medical care to the communities as one of its many CSR initiatives. The award was presented by Hon’ble Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, and PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh to Shri R.N. Misra, Chairman and Managing Director, SJVN at a glittering event held at New Delhi today. The function was held in commemoration of “International Day of Older Persons” by HelpAge India.
Speaking on this occasion, Shri R.N. Misra Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN told that SJVN under the agies of SJVN Foundation in association with HelpAge India is providing free Medicare under the banner of “Satluj Sanjeevini Sewa” to the local communities residing in and around its project areas in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Bihar and Maharashtra covering 9 Districts, 73 Gram Panchayats and 114 Community locations. The initiative started in 2013 is being run successfully till date.
Shri Misra further told that the Medicare is being provided through 10 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in association with HelpAge India. Moreover, regular specialized health camps are also being organized to address specific health problems. The Satluj Sanjivini Sewa was started during financial year, 2013-14 and so far around 90,000 peoples have been benefited. Similarly, through the 70 specialized health camps, a total of around 16,000 patients were treated. In addition to these 10 Medical Mobile Units, SJVN is also operating 2 similar Medical Mobile Units in project affected areas of Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station and Rampur Hydro Power Station.
He further informed that to turn the dream of “Swatcch Vidyalaya Abhiyaan” of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India into reality, SJVN was entrusted with the task of construction of toilets in the Govt. Schools in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. As per targets circulated by Ministry of Power, SJVN had to construct 2271 toilets in above said four states, which was surpassed by construction of 2421 units at an expenditure of around Rs. 23 crores.
Hydro Power is the core strength of SJVN and the Company has the distinction of implementing India’s largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh and the Company is implementing 12 other projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Bihar, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The Company’s other two projects namely 412 MW Rampur HE Project in Himachal Pradesh and 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project in Maharashtra are already in operation. SJVN which has already diversified in the field of Wind Power, Thermal Power and Power Transmission is presently generating 2000 MW of electricity.
