The Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply that Kisan Seva Kendra (KSK) concept was developed by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) as a low cost retail outlet in rural/agricultural market in order to deliver diesel and other petroleum products at the doorsteps of farmers. These are intended to cater to the needs of farmers, agriculturists and other consumers of petrol and diesel in the rural areas.

Accordingly, OMCs have been setting up low cost rural retail outlets (KSK/Gramin pumps) for catering to Rural/Agriculture markets throughout the country at identified locations having sufficient potential and found to be economically viable. As on 01-01-2017, OMCs have 12,183 rural retail outlets (KSK) throughout the country.
