The International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC-2024) was hosted by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP) in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from November 11 to 14, 2024. Conducted in a hybrid format, the event witnessed the participation of three Lean Quality Circle (LQC) teams from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The teams, namely ARMOR from the Special Bar Mill (SBM), TARANGINI from Quality Assurance & Technology Development (QA&TD), and SADHANA from Steel Melt Shop-1 (SMS-1), presented their case studies online from the Centre for HRD at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
The ARMOR team, consisting of Shri B.V. Sivaji, Shri Mamidi Aditya, Shri Nammi Pruthvi Raj, Shri Sanyasi Rao Yalamanchi, and Shri Dhanunjaya Kuruba, showcased their innovative case study on “Minimizing Power & Free Hook (P&F) Chain Downtime by Eliminating Structure Damage.” Meanwhile, the TARANGINI team, represented by Smt. Garica Sheshamma, Ms. Anshika Hotiyal, Smt. Snigdha Liticia Nag, Smt. Yalla Vijaya Sowjanya, and Smt. Mahadasu Geethasri, presented their work on “Cyanide Determination in Water Using Micro Diffusion Cells.” The SADHANA team, featuring Shri Srinivasa Raju V., Shri Bhanu Kiran Banda, Shri M. Satyanarayana, and Shri I. Mohana Rao, shared their insights on “Surge Hopper-2 Modification.”
All three teams received the prestigious GOLD Awards at the ICQCC-2024, reaffirming RINL’s commitment to quality and innovation on an international platform. This recognition adds to RINL’s legacy of earning accolades at various global events.
Sri A.K. Saxena, CMD (Additional Charge) of RINL, congratulated the Lean Quality Circle teams for their exceptional performance and for bringing international laurels to the organization once again.
