Ms. Reenat Sandhu IFS (1989), presently Ambassador of lndia to ltaly, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of lndia to the Republic of San Marino, with residence in Rome.She is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
Ambassador Reenat Sandhu began her career in the Indian Foreign Service in 1989. She has served in various capacities in Indian Missions abroad including Moscow, Kyiv, Washington DC, Colombo, New York and Geneva. She has also served in headquarters at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, handling Investment & Trade Promotion, Projects, East Europe and Sri Lanka desks.
Ambassador Sandhu was Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the WTO in Geneva during 2011-14. Prior to her assignment to Italy, she was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Washington DC.
Born on June 7, 1964, Mrs. Sandhu is a graduate in economics from the Delhi School of Economics. Over the years, much of her work has focused on trade and commerce, including her stint in Washington in the late 90’s.
