Shri Pradeep Kumar Jha IAS (Manipur 2006), presently Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, Govt of Manipur, is appointed as Joint Secretary – Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, at Level 14 of the Pay Matrix, on Central Deputation basis for a tenure of five years.

Shri Pradeep Kumar Jha will play a crucial role in shaping national urban development policies, housing reforms, and sustainable city planning. With an illustrious career spanning nearly two decades, he has held key leadership positions across various sectors, demonstrating remarkable administrative acumen and a commitment to public service.

Beginning his journey in the Indian Administrative Service in 2006, Shri Jha started as an Assistant Commissioner in Manipur, quickly moving on to roles such as Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in Ukhrul and Senapati. His early years in district administration equipped him with a strong foundation in governance, land revenue management, and local development initiatives. He went on to serve as Deputy Commissioner of Senapati and Churachandpur, where he oversaw critical aspects of district administration, law enforcement, and infrastructure development, ensuring efficient service delivery at the grassroots level.

In recognition of his capabilities, Shri Jha was entrusted with finance and health administration responsibilities in Manipur. As State Mission Director of the National Rural Health Mission and Project Director of the AIDS Control Society, he played a pivotal role in improving healthcare accessibility and implementing public health programs. His expertise in financial management was further demonstrated during his tenure as Joint Secretary and later Additional Secretary in the Finance Department of Manipur, where he contributed to fiscal planning and economic governance.

His career took a significant turn when he was deputed to Bihar, where he held critical positions such as Managing Director of Medical Services Corporation Ltd., Special Secretary in the Public Health Engineering Department, and Director of Information and Public Relations. These roles expanded his expertise in health administration, infrastructure projects, and public communication, further strengthening his leadership skills. Notably, as District Collector and Magistrate of Purnia (Bihar), he was instrumental in driving governance reforms, disaster management, and rural development initiatives.

Returning to Manipur, Shri Jha took on several high-profile roles, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Commerce & Industries, Tourism, and Health & Family Welfare Departments. His tenure in these departments saw significant improvements in industrial growth, tourism promotion, and healthcare services. His ability to navigate complex administrative challenges led to his appointment as Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur, where he ensured the smooth conduct of elections and upheld democratic processes with efficiency and transparency. Most recently, as Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, he worked towards the upliftment of tribal communities, focusing on economic empowerment, infrastructure development, and social welfare initiatives.
