Shri P Krishnamurthy, a seasoned civil servant of the Indian Administrative Service, has been empanelled for holding the post of Additional Secretary to the Government of India—a reflection of his distinguished service and deep-rooted administrative experience spanning over two and a half decades. With a solid academic foundation including postgraduate degrees in International Studies and Political Science, and a graduation in History, Shri Krishnamurthy has brought intellectual depth and operational excellence to every role he has undertaken.
His career showcases a remarkable breadth of leadership, both at the Centre and in his cadre, across sectors such as pharmaceuticals, water resources, education, defence, revenue, and general administration. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, where he is playing a pivotal role in ensuring affordable medicine pricing in India. Prior to this, he held impactful roles as Chief Electoral Officer, CEO of Delhi Jal Board, and Principal Secretary to the Government in General Administration.
Shri Krishnamurthy’s versatility is evident from his successful stints in positions ranging from Secretary to the Chief Minister of Goa, District Collector, and Resident Commissioner, to key roles in national institutions like NIFT and the Ministry of Defence.
