NTPC Ltd., the largest power generator in India with a current installed capacity of 72,304 MW, has announced its financial results for FY23 on May 19, 2023.

In FY23, the NTPC Group achieved its highest-ever annual generation of 399 billion units, representing an increase of approximately 11% compared to 361 billion units in FY22. NTPC’s standalone gross generation in FY23 reached 344 billion units, a rise of about 11% from the previous year.

NTPC’s coal-based power stations achieved an impressive Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 75.90% in FY23, surpassing the national average of 64.21%.

On a standalone basis, NTPC’s total income for FY23 amounted to ₹167,724 crore, marking a substantial increase of 34.45% compared to the previous year’s total income of ₹124,750 crore. The profit after tax (PAT) for FY23 stood at ₹17,197 crore, reflecting a growth of 5.62% from ₹16,282 crore in FY22.

On a consolidated basis, the NTPC Group’s total income for FY23 was ₹177,977 crore, exhibiting a growth of 31.84% compared to the previous year’s total income of ₹134,994 crore. The group’s PAT for FY23 amounted to ₹17,121 crore, slightly higher than the corresponding PAT of ₹16,960 crore in the previous year.

The Board of Directors of NTPC Ltd. has recommended a final dividend of 30% of the paid-up share capital, equivalent to ₹3 per equity share with a face value of ₹10 each, for FY23. This recommendation is subject to the approval of the shareholders in the Annual General Meeting. Additionally, the company had already paid an interim dividend of 42.50% of the paid-up share capital, amounting to ₹4.25 per equity share, in February 2023. NTPC’s consistent dividend payments mark the 30th consecutive year of such distributions by the company.
