Indian Bureaucracy PSU Update: The World Forestry Day or International Day of Forests was established in the year 1971 at the 23rd General Assembly of European Confederation of Agriculture. And it was decided to be celebrated as an annual event celebration on 21st of March by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

The World Forest Day which falls on 21st March every year was today observed in NLC INDIA industrial complex.

To mark the occasion, tree plantations were carried out in Mines reclaimed area and township area.  This year, the World Forest Day is being observed with a theme “Forests & Energy”.  In this regard, a pledge in Tamil, Hindi and English was taken by all employees.

In a small function, Shri R. Vikraman, Director / HR, NLC INDIA LTD., planted a sapling near Arch Gate in the township area and administered the pledge in Tamil.

Shri M. Karthikeyan, GM/TA and other officials from Township Administration Department and Horticulture Department were present.  In the Mines Spoil Bank, Mine-I, Mine-II & Mine-IA mass tree plantation was taken up in observance of World Forest Day.
