The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the world’s largest uniformed youth organization established in 1948, celebrated its 76th Raising Day on November 24, 2024, with traditional fervor. On this solemn occasion, Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh paid homage to the fallen heroes at the National War Memorial, India Gate, on behalf of the entire NCC fraternity. In his address, the Defence Secretary acknowledged the NCC’s commendable efforts in expanding its cadet strength by 3 lakh, with a goal of reaching 20 lakh cadets in the coming years. He emphasized the NCC’s significant role in the Government of India’s “Viksit Bharat” campaign and highlighted its relentless efforts in shaping the youth into responsible citizens under the guiding principle of “Yuva Shakti – Viksit Bharat.”

As part of the celebrations, cadets across India participated in March Past events, cultural programs, and pan-India blood donation camps. This year’s blood donation drive aims to exceed the impressive 50,000 units collected last year. Additionally, various social and cultural awareness activities, such as tree plantation drives, Swachhta Hi Sewa campaigns, cleaning of statues, and the Nasha Mukti Abhiyaan, were organized, reflecting the NCC’s deep commitment to community welfare and national service.

In alignment with national developmental initiatives, the NCC has overhauled its training syllabus to include programs like Skill Manthan, I4C (Cyber Awareness), and disaster response training with NDRF and SDRF teams. These updates aim to equip cadets with modern skills, build character and confidence, and prepare them for leadership roles in a rapidly evolving world. The NCC’s continuous evolution and its contributions to youth empowerment underscore its vital role in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation.
