The Ministry of Tourism is observing a Swachhta Pakhwada from 16th to 30th September, 2016 to create a general awareness of the need for cleanliness in all walks of life. In connection with this Pakhwada, the Ministry of Tourism decided to conduct the following activities;-
a) The officers and staff of the Ministry of Tourism will undertake cleaning of ten pre-selected tourist sites in the afternoon during the Pakhwada.
b) In addition to the cleaning, the officers and staff of the Ministry of Tourism will carry out cleaning in and around Transport Bhawan and C-1 Hutments and weeding out of old documents and files to achieve Swachh Office environment.
c) An essay competition on the topic of cleanliness will be organized on 24th September, 2016 in English and 25th September, 2016 in Hindi.
d) Considering the importance of 27th September being the World Tourism Day, the Ministry of Tourism will organize a “Run for Swachh Paryatan” from Transport Bhawan to India Gate with the participation of the public, students and faculty of the Institutes of Ministry of Tourism as well as the officers and staff of the Ministry.
e) Awards and Appreciation Certificates would be distributed on World Tourism Day (27th September, 2016) to the best maintained/ cleanest offices at head quarter, regional and domestic offices of the Ministry of Tourism to acknowledge and encourage the efforts made towards cleanliness.
