Ahead of the Independence Day, security has been tightened in Delhi with areas in the Lutyens zone and those surrounding the iconic Red Fort being turned into a fortress to ward off any security threats. All the security agencies are working in coordination to secure Delhi against all possible terror threats.

Bus terminals, Railway Stations and the Airport are on high alert as per inputs by the intelligence agencies regarding terrorist threats. Delhi Police said all the border areas of the national capital are under strict surveillance and every movement is being monitored in coordination with the police of neighboring states.

Delhi Police and security agencies have put in an impregnable security apparatus at Red Fort. More than 10,000 Delhi Police personnel have been deployed in and around the Red Fort and surrounding areas along with snipers, Army and National Security Guard -NSG commandos to make the area attack-proof.

Snipers of NSG, central security forces are being also deployed on rooftops to maintain vigil on any suspicious flying object. Some 150 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras on and around roads leading to the Red Fort have been installed.

Security agencies have taken measures to cover all possible space from ground to the sky. Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets will be on alert to fly at a short notice of two minutes in the event of an emergency.
