Shri Justice Vikas Suri presently Additional Judge- Punjab and Haryana High Court has been appointed as Judge- Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Justice Vikas Suri studied at St. John’s High School, graduated in humanities from Government College Chandigarh and graduated in law from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Awarded Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (Bronze). Adjudged National Cadet Corps Best Cadet (Naval wing) of the Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh Directorate and fifth at national level. Represented the Country in the Indo-Canada Youth Exchange Program, as part of a distinguished group selected from across the nation. Awarded College Colour for two consecutive years. Actively participated in many sports and outdoor adventure activities while undergoing formal education, and remained integrally associated with student editorial assignments back in college and law department.

Enrolled as an Advocate in August 1992 and was admitted to the Bar promptly thereafter. Was initiated in law practice under the tutelage of Senior Advocates Sarvashri Harbans Lal Sarin and Manmohan Lal Sarin [former Advocate General Punjab and former Advocate General Haryana].

Practised in different branches of law for 29 years before the High Court, predominantly on the Civil and Constitutional side. Served as Senior Standing Counsel for Employee’s State Insurance Corporation (Haryana Region) since early 2008, besides appearing for other statutory institutions and body corporates of the Central and State Governments. Conducted cases for Bhakra Beas Management Board, Chandigarh Administration as Additional Government Pleader, Haryana Power Utilities (for its distribution & generation companies), erstwhile Punjab State Electricity Board, Food Corporation of India and for many well recognised corporate entities.

Was entrusted with cases to represent the Punjab and Haryana High Court and its subordinate Courts, in multifaceted litigation before the High Court itself. Rendered assistance as Amicus Curiae and Court Commissioner in matters of great public importance. Did pro-bono work regularly. Garnered noteworthy cognitive experience as a Commission for taking evidence for proceedings pending before a New York Court; appointed by the High Court in execution of ‘letters of request’ under the Hague Evidence Convention.

Kept up with family tradition as Editor of ‘The Lahore Law Times’, a monthly law journal founded in 1922 by Shri Prabhu Das Suri (Lordship’s grandfather). Was regional reporter of ‘All India Services Law Journal’ since 1993 and reporter for ‘Indian Law Reports (Punjab and Haryana)’ series, for two terms spanning over a decade.

A regular blood donor. Founder member of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Blood Contributors’ Club, a unique step in the furtherance of voluntary blood donation and first of its kind in legal circles of the Country. Justice Vikas Suri was sworn in as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on 29.10.2021.
