The Government has approved a scheme for skill development of drivers and mechanical staff in road transport sector and workmen in the highways construction sector. Under the Scheme a grant of Rs. 1cr. is payable to every training centre for skilling of drivers. Till date 16 such proposals have been approved for training centres in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. The skilling of drivers would help in reducing accidents.
