GatiShakti Network Planning Group recommends Six Infrastructure Projects Valued Over Rs. 14,000 Crore

55th Network Planning Group (NPG) meeting convened in New Delhi under the leadership of Smt. Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary, Logistics, DPIIT. The meeting. During the meeting, six projects, comprising three from the Ministry of Railways (MoR) and three from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), were assessed, totaling Rs. 14,081 Crore in project cost. This brings the total assessed projects by NPG to 106, valued at around Rs. 11 Lakh Crore, since the PM GatiShakti was launch.

Among these projects, three railway line projects, costing Rs. 5374.5 Crore, aim to benefit industries like Steel, Cement, and Power by facilitating the transport of essential resources and finished goods. They also promise to reduce logistics costs and alleviate traffic congestion.

Furthermore, the NPG discussed three road projects, with a total cost of Rs. 8706 Crore. One road project in Meghalaya connects to the East-West Road Corridor, improving agro-products transportation and international trade at the India-Bangladesh border. Another project, part of the Kharagpur Siliguri Road Corridor, shortens the distance and travel time, benefiting several districts. Lastly, the Deoghar Bypass project aims to ease city traffic congestion and support local industrial zones.

These projects aim at providing multimodal connectivity for socio-economic development, area improvement, and infrastructure decongestion of far away states.
