Ms Garima Yadav IAS is a senior Indian Administrative Service officer known for her academic depth, administrative versatility, and sustained contributions across diverse sectors of governance in Uttar Pradesh. With more than two decades of experience spanning district administration, urban development, agriculture, women and child welfare, and personnel training, her career reflects a rare blend of field-level exposure and policy-oriented leadership.

Academically, Ms Yadav has a strong foundation in Geography. She completed her M.A. in Geography from Agra University, Agra, securing First Division, and went on to earn a Ph.D. in Geography from the same university. This rigorous academic background has consistently informed her analytical approach to administration, especially in areas involving spatial planning, urban development, land management, and social sector programmes.

Her administrative journey began in January 1999 as a Trainee Deputy Collector in Nainital. In the early years, she served as Deputy Collector/SDM in districts such as Dehradun, Nainital, Etawah, and Agra, gaining hands-on experience in land revenue management, district administration, and sub-divisional governance. These formative postings helped her develop a strong grasp of grassroots administration, public grievance redressal, and law-and-order coordination.

Ms Garima Yadav later served as Project Director in Aligarh, where she handled responsibilities related to urban development and public administration. Her role as OSD in the Agra Development Authority and subsequently as Secretary, Development Authority, Bareilly, further strengthened her expertise in urban planning, housing, and infrastructure development. During her tenure in Bareilly (2013–2016), she was involved in steering urban development initiatives with a focus on planned growth and regulatory compliance.

Her exposure to agricultural and allied sectors came through her postings as Deputy Director, Agriculture Marketing, Bareilly, and Joint Commissioner in the Cane & Sugar Department, Lucknow. These assignments enabled her to engage closely with issues related to agricultural marketing systems, commercial crops, and the sugarcane sector—an area of significant economic importance in Uttar Pradesh. Her work during this phase contributed to better coordination between farmers, industry stakeholders, and the government.

A particularly impactful phase of her career was in the Women Welfare & Child Development Department. As Member Secretary of the State Women’s Commission (2017–2019), she played a key role in strengthening institutional mechanisms for women’s rights, grievance redressal, and policy advocacy. She later served as Special Secretary in the same department (2019–2021), where she was involved in shaping and implementing welfare schemes aimed at women and children, with emphasis on inclusion, safety, and social empowerment.

Ms Yadav’s administrative acumen was further utilised in the domain of personnel management and training. She served as Assistant Director at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, contributing to the training of civil servants. Subsequently, she held the post of Additional Director (Deputy Secretary equivalent) at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Lucknow, under the Appointments & Personnel Department from October 2021 to September 2025. In this role, she was instrumental in capacity building, mid-career training, and strengthening administrative competencies of officers—an area frequently highlighted in Indian Bureaucracy Latest News for its long-term impact on governance quality.

Throughout her career, Ms Garima Yadav IAS has demonstrated adaptability across sectors, a strong grounding in policy and training, and a commitment to public service.
