The Ministry is implementing various Central Sector Schemes for promotion and development of food processing sector in the country including hill areas namely (i) Scheme for Mega Food Park; (ii) Scheme for Modernization of Abattoirs; (iii) Scheme for Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure; (iv) Scheme for Creation/ Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities; (v) Scheme for Quality Assurance; and (vi) Scheme for Human Resources and Institutions. Under these schemes, higher level of financial assistance as grant-in-aid is provided for the projects set up in difficult and hilly areas (North-East States including Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand).  The detailed guidelines of these schemes, explaining the pattern of financial assistance, eligibility criteria, and procedure for approval of projects / release of grant-in-aid are available on the Ministry’s website at www.mofpi.nic.in.

Under the schemes of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, projects may be set up throughout the country including the tomato and other seasonal vegetable growing areas.  Proposals for setting up of the projects are invited from the eligible entrepreneurs and entities and eligible proposals are selected based upon the criteria laid down in the respective Scheme guidelines.
