Flood forecast in Ganga,Damodar and Subarnarekha Basins

In view of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the States of Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, UP and MP in association with a deep depression centered around Jharkhand and adjoining North Chhattisgarh today morning and heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast in East UP, East MP and other catchment areas of Ganga and its tributaries such as Yamuna, Tons, Sone for another two days, river water level is rising in rivers Ken, Yamuna, Ganga, Sone, Punpun and Koel.

During the next 1-5 days:

River Ganga is likely to flow in High to Unprecedented flood situation in the districts of Ghazipur, Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, Patna, Munger and Bhagalpur in Bihar, Sahibganj in Jharkhand and Murshidabad in West Bengal. The river  is likely to flow in Moderate to High flood situation in Allahabad, Mirzapur and Varanasi districts of UP.

River Yamuna is likely to flow in Low to Moderate Situation in Allahabad and Banda district of UP

River Ken is likely to flow in Moderate to High Flood Situation in Banda district and in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh.

 River Sone is likely to flow in Low to Moderate Flood Situation in Shahdol district in Madhya Pradesh, Chandauli district in UP, Rohtas and Patna districts  in Bihar.

River Koel is likely to flow in Moderate to High flood situation in Palmau district in Jharkhand.

River Damodar and its tributaries will get good inflows in to all dams in DVC System and the releases from these rivers may cause low to moderate flood situation in Bardhaman and Hooghly districts of West Bengal.

 River Kangsabati is likely to get inflow in to Kangsabati Dam and the river also may flow in low to moderate flood situation in East Medhinipur district of West Bengal.

River Subarnarekha is likely to flow in Moderate to High Flood Situation in East Singhbhum district in Jharkhand, Mayurbanj and Balasore districts in Odisha and West Medhinipur district in West Bengal.
