Delhi University Hosts Interactive Digital India Talk Show

Delhi University successfully organized a Digital India Talk Show and Interactive Session. This event, the second in a series of workshops planned over the next six months, was part of the Digital India Awareness campaign by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The program witnessed the participation of over 500 attendees, including students from various colleges, faculty members, and university staff. The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting and featured keynote addresses by officials from NeGD and Delhi University.

Shri J L Gupta, Director of NeGD, MeitY, elaborated on the objectives of the Digital India Programme and how its key initiatives are driving digital transformation across the country, ensuring their reach even to the remotest areas.

Prof. Sanjeev Singh, Director of Delhi University Computer Centre, stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and universities in fostering a deeper understanding and wider dissemination of the benefits of digital initiatives. He also highlighted various collaborations the University has undertaken with MeitY for initiatives like DigiLocker, National Academic Depository (NAD), and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).

Prof. Sanjoy Roy, Director of the Institute of Lifelong Learning (ILLL) and Head of the Department of Social Work at the University of Delhi, emphasized the advantages of digitalization in students’ lives and the necessity of ethics in the digital realm.

The event featured engaging sessions conducted by experts on five key Digital India initiatives, including UMANG, DigiLocker, National Academic Depository – Academic Bank of Credits (NAD-ABC), Cyber Security, myScheme, and UX4G. Experts elucidated how these Digital India initiatives can benefit students, faculty, and citizens at large. A question and answer round followed each session, allowing participants to seek direct clarifications from the experts.

An interactive Digital India Quiz was a highlight of the workshop, with multiple-choice questions related to the five projects. Students and DU Professors participated enthusiastically in the quiz, with winners receiving Digital India goodies and certificates.
