Defence Research Laboratory (DRL), Tezpur, a premier lab of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) celebrated 62nd Lab Raising Day on 21 November, 2023. Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh was the Chief Guest of the event. DS & DG(LS), DRDO HQ New Delhi, Dr U K Singh was Distinguished Guest and District Commissioner, Sonitpur Sh Deba Kumar Mishra was Guest of Honor. The moment turned more special at DRL 62nd Lab raising day celebration with the presence of retired officers & staff of DRL.
A video documentary showcasing the journey of DRL during the last year highlighting the various research activities and events was displayed. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Director DRL, Dr Dev Vrat Kamboj, who aptly described the achievements made by DRL in the last year in his 62nd Lab Raising Day address. The District Commissioner of Sonitpur addressed the esteemed gathering, and acknowledged DRL’s pivotal role in nation-building and its contribution through R&D works, especially in providing technological solutions for the challenges faced by army personnel in the North-East India. He appreciated DRL’s effort in organizing the ‘Mentees Development Programme’ under the AROHAN scheme of Govt. of Assam. Dr U K Singh, DS & DG(LS) appreciated all the scientists, officers and staff of DRL for their outstanding work. He emphasized the need for active collaboration with academia and industry in all R&D projects.
Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University appreciated R&D works of DRL and advised to collaborate with Tezpur University in the related field.
