Shri Chandrasekar S IAS (Kerala 2014) has been appointed as Private Secretary to Vice
President of India (Shri C P Radhakrishnan) in the Vice President’s Secretariat at the level of Deputy Secretary for a period upto 28.02.2028 (i.e. for the balance period of his four years central deputation tenure) .

Shri Chandrasekar S, IAS, is a distinguished civil servant whose career reflects an extraordinary blend of academic brilliance, administrative acumen, and dedicated service to the nation. Recently appointed as Private Secretary to the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C. P. A graduate in Civil Engineering from the prestigious College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, where he secured a first-class distinction, Shri Chandrasekar laid a strong technical foundation early in his journey. He further honed his leadership and managerial expertise with an MBA in Finance from Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirapalli, one of India’s top management schools. This rare blend of engineering precision and financial expertise has been a hallmark of his multidimensional approach to administration.

Since joining the Indian Administrative Service, Shri Chandrasekar’s career trajectory has been marked by impactful postings that demonstrate both his versatility and vision. He began his journey with a strong grounding in land revenue management and district administration as Sub-Collector in Alleppey, Pathanamthitta, Thalassery, and Thiruvananthapuram. In these formative roles, he earned recognition for his people-centric governance, quick responsiveness to citizen concerns, and proactive approach in handling developmental challenges.

His tenure as District Collector of Kannur (2021–2024) was especially noteworthy, where he led with conviction and empathy. From strengthening disaster management systems to improving land revenue processes and driving welfare initiatives, he displayed exceptional leadership in balancing administrative efficiency with inclusivity. His ability to bring transparency and accountability to governance won him accolades from both citizens and colleagues.

Shri Chandrasekar has also contributed significantly at the policy and organizational level. His leadership roles in Kerala’s Labour & Employment Department, including serving as Managing Director and Director (Employment & Training), highlighted his commitment to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, modernizing employment exchanges, and strengthening skill development ecosystems. Likewise, his contributions as Managing Director in Human Resource Development and Technical Education emphasized his passion for nurturing youth potential and ensuring equitable access to opportunities.

With a keen eye on emerging technologies, Shri Chandrasekar also brought his expertise to the Information Technology Department in Thiruvananthapuram, where he worked on initiatives that bridged the gap between governance and digital innovation. His brief stint as Director in the Environment Department further reflected his awareness of the growing need for sustainable and environmentally conscious policies.

At the Centre, his role as Deputy Secretary at the Department of Personnel and Training, LBSNAA Mussoorie, showcased his excellence in personnel management, capacity building, and training India’s future administrators.
