Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two key infrastructure projects at Ayodhya; Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and the upgraded Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station.
The concurrent inauguration is expected to contribute to regional development, from a financial perspective, these projects strategically position Ayodhya as a lucrative destination for travellers, pilgrims, and investors alike.

The newly constructed Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, developed at a cost exceeding Rs 1450 crore, is poised to handle 10 lakh passengers annually in its first phase. After the second phase, projections indicate a capacity to cater to 60 lakh commuters yearly. The terminal building showcases a façade reflecting the architectural essence of the upcoming Shri Ram Mandir and interiors adorned with local art. Sustainability features include insulated roofing, LED lighting, and rainwater harvesting, targeting a GRIHA – 5 star rating. The airport is expected to boost regional connectivity, fostering opportunities in tourism, business activities, and employment.
Prime Minister also inaugurated the upgraded Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station, made with a budget exceeding Rs 240 crore. The modernised station is three stories high and is equipped with amenities like lifts, escalators, food plazas and can accommodate a surge in capacity from 10 thousand to 60 thousand people. The launch of ‘Amrit Bharat’ trains, tailored for economically challenged travellers, featured two Amrit Bharat trains and six Vande Bharat Trains, establishing vital connections between spiritual and cultural hubs nationwide. Additionally, three railway projects, collectively worth Rs 2300 crore, were dedicated to strengthening rail infrastructure in the region.
