Ashok Das appointed Ambassador to Brazil

Shri Ashok Das IFS (1987), presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Federative Republic of Brazil. He is expected to take up his assignment shortly.

Shri  Das is a career diplomat and joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1987.  He has served in India’s diplomatic missions in Portugal, Cambodia, Chicago and has been India’s Assistant High Commissioner in Chittagong, Bangladesh.  He has also been India’s Consul General in Vancouver.  He has served as Deputy Director General in the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.

Shri Das is proficient in Portuguese and speaks a number of Indian languages.  He possesses an M. Phil. degree from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
