Shri Amrit Abhijat, an IAS officer, was born on June 21, 1968, in Patna, Bihar. With an M.A. in History and a PG from IDS, Sussex, UK, he joined the IAS on September 5, 1995.
His career began with training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie (1995-1996), followed by roles as Assistant Magistrate in Deoria (1996-1997), Joint Magistrate in Farrukhabad and Mathura (1997-1999), and Chief Development Officer in Mathura (1999-2002). He has served as District Magistrate in Mirzapur, Deoria, Hamirpur, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Muzaffar Nagar, Kanpur Nagar, and Agra, and as Divisional Commissioner, Agra (2011-2012). Key administrative posts include Special Secretary (Home, PWD), Additional Chief Electoral Officer, UP (2008-2009), and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, GOI (2015-2021).
He has also served as Principal Secretary for Vocational & Skill Development and Technical Education (2021-2022), then as Principal Secretary for Urban Development, Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation (May 2022-June 2022),
