Shri Amod Kumar IAS (Uttar Pradesh 1995) has been empanelled for holding the post of
Joint Secretary at the Centre.
Shri Amod Kumar is widely respected for his deep intellectual grounding, administrative versatility, and policy insight developed through over two decades of multifaceted service.
A stellar academic, Shri Kumar holds a B.Tech and M.Tech in Civil Engineering, both with First Division from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. His academic journey also includes a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies from JETRO’s IDEAS, Japan, a Master of Population Studies (M.P.S.) from IIPS, Mumbai, and a Master in Public Administration (M.P.A.) from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA. He further earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow, showcasing an exceptional blend of technical, policy, and analytical expertise.
Throughout his career, Shri Kumar has handled crucial responsibilities at both the state and central levels. Currently serving as Deputy Director General (Joint Secretary equivalent) at UIDAI, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, he has played a vital role in advancing digital identity and governance initiatives. His prior assignments include key roles such as Principal Secretary, Planning Department and General Administration, Secretary to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Member (Judicial), Board of Revenue, and District Magistrate of Sitapur and Faizabad.
He has also held leadership positions in sectors including health, electronics & IT, revenue administration, excise, and judicial affairs, and has been repeatedly entrusted with sensitive assignments reflecting his administrative maturity and reform-oriented approach.
