Shri Alok Tandon IAS (Uttar Pradesh 1986) who was on waitlist has been appointed CEO Noida and MD Noida Metro Corporation.
Shri Alok Tandon, IAS, is a mid-career professional belonging to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Government of India. Mr. Tandon is an Electrical Engineer by academic training. During his more than 25 years of service in IAS till date, he has held various assignments as Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chief Development Officer, Joint Secretary and District Magistrate. As District Magistrate of Allahabad, he supervised the setting up of a temporary township on the dry bed of river Ganges in a record time of 4 months to accommodate over one million devotees. He served as Chief Executive of a thermal power generation company having 5 generating stations and a combined revenue exceeding $ 1 billion. He took 2 years off from his work in the years 2005-07 and spent this time gainfully in academic pursuits in top US universities ( Princeton University and University of California, San Diego) learning advanced tools of economic and public policy. He is Joint Secretary, Dept. of Disinvestment, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. He has been a Director of United India Insurance Co. Ltd. since June 5, 2014. He serves as a Government Director at Small Industries Development Bank of India. He served as a Government Nominee Director at ICICI Bank Ltd. from June 6, 2014 to January 16, 2017. He served as a Director of National Housing Bank from June 9, 2014 to June 10, 2016. He served as a Nominee Director of IFCI Limited from June 10, 2014 to July 6, 2016. He served as a Director of Central Bank of India from November 16, 2011 to July 26, 2013. He serves as a Member of Pricing Committee at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. He received the President’s Gold Medal, awarded personally by the President of India for this achievement.
In 1984, Mr. Tandon graduated from Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
