Indian Bureaucracy, New Delhi, August 04, 2025| The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the grant of the Apex Pay Scale (Level-17 in the pay matrix) to two senior IPS officers at the Director General (DG) level, effective immediately.
Shri Alok Sharma IPS (Uttar Pradesh 1991), presently serving as Director – Special Protection Group (SPG), MHA, and due to retire on 30 June 2026, has been granted the revised scale.
Shri Gyanendra Pratap Singh IPS (Assam-Meghalaya 1991), presently on Central Deputation as Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and due to retire on 30 November 2027, has been accorded the revised Apex scale. Before his CRPF appointment in January 2025, he headed the Assam Police as Director General from February 2023 to January 2025.
The Apex Pay Scale represents the highest grade in the civil service pay matrix, awarded on a seniority basis to officers holding the most critical leadership positions in the country’s security and administrative apparatus.
