Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, presided over a significant joint inter-institutional meeting in Jammu. This meeting brought together Vice Chancellors, Directors, and heads of various universities, scientific institutions, and academic institutions to foster collaborative research, teaching, and joint StartUps through a collective action plan. The objective was to encourage greater integration and move away from working in isolation.
Highlighting Jammu as an educational hub in India, with prestigious institutions situated in close proximity, such as IIT, IIM, IIMC, AIIMS, CSIR-IIIM, GMC, SKUAST, CU, JU, Dr. Singh expressed that this inter-institutional connection aimed to develop a model of extended integration that could be replicated in other regions as well.
Dr. Singh emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is at the forefront of the global StartUp ecosystem. The integration and collaboration among institutions in the Jammu region can provide an impetus for StartUp aspirants in Jammu & Kashmir. Dr. Singh mentioned CSIR-IIIM’s efforts in creating an Agri-tech start-up culture under the Aroma Mission and expressed hope that this integration would facilitate other institutions in establishing Start-ups based on their resources.
Dr. Singh stressed that working in isolation is no longer viable in India, particularly under the current government’s emphasis on greater integration and extensive brainstorming for enhanced outcomes. The inter-institutional connection established during this meeting would serve as a roadmap for other institutions in the country, fostering resource-sharing and greater interconnectedness.
Dr. Singh encouraged institutions to propose collaborative models in any field to facilitate a culture of ambient integration, providing an example of how the IIM could develop a model for personnel management in hospitals for intern doctors.
The meeting was attended by notable individuals, including the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Sh. Ajay Kumar Sood, Director General CSIR & Secretary DSIR, Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, and representatives from various institutions such as CSIR-IIIM Jammu, AIIMS Jammu, Jammu University, Cluster University Jammu, SKUAST Jammu, BGBSU, SMVDU, CUJ, IIM Jammu, IIT Jammu, and GMC Jammu.
