The sixth submarine of Project 75, Yard 11880, which belongs to the Indian Navy’s Kalvari class, has commenced its sea trials on May 18, 2023. The submarine was launched on April 20, 2022, from the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). Named Vaghsheer, it is scheduled to be delivered to the Indian Navy in early 2024 after the completion of these trials.

The commencement of sea trials for the sixth submarine is a significant milestone for MDL. They have already delivered three submarines of Project 75 within a span of 24 months, showcasing their commitment to the “AatmaNirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) initiative.

During the sea trials, the submarine will undergo rigorous testing of all its systems, including propulsion systems, weapons, and sensors. These trials are crucial to ensure that the submarine meets the required performance standards before its final delivery to the Indian Navy.
